Entertainment ideas
- Including a story-teller with stories rooted in Swedish tradition is a fun addition to the activities. For example, in Austin, TX, Karin Carlsson, a member of SWEA Austin, is a story-teller extraordinaire!
- Traditional Swedish music helps set the stage.
- As the Live Music Capitol of the World, SWEA Austin has great resources for live traditional Swedish music. The Annoying Instrument Orchestra plays many different types of traditional Swedish songs. They have performed during the SWEA Austin Christmas Bazaar and our Christmas tree plundring celebration.
- Multi-media:
Sweden in 20 Pictures from Sweden.se
Pippi CD
- Swedish music on CD or downloaded from the Web
- Videos
- Pippi Longstocking has been made into both a TV show and movies in Swedish, with dubbing into English as well as English versions.
- Other popular Swedish stories have also been made into movies. It is fun to play the Swedish to expose children to the sound of the language or it may be more motivating to have English versions.
